Why is this team important?

“The team is dedicated to ensuring SLPS and caregivers are confident and equipped to succeed with AAC throughout their journey. Learning AAC can be overwhelming, and support is crucial beyond gaining access to the device. Individuals can benefit from guidance on how to effectively use the technology, strategies that facilitate the best outcomes with the goal of empowerment throughout the process.”

What do Empowerment sessions look like?

“Empowerment sessions are designed to address specific questions related to AAC apps, programming, and implementation. These sessions provide support on best practices and strategies to maximize success with AAC. They can be conducted 1:1 or as part of a team, with follow-up sessions encouraged for continued guidance.

Examples of when these sessions are helpful include an experienced SLP facing a challenging case and seeking collaboration with another AAC specialist, a new SLP needing support with app selection and getting started with a client or student, educators and staff looking for ways to integrate AAC in the classroom, or parents feeling overwhelmed and seeking additional support to supplement their SLP’s guidance.”
